In order to survive the summer without buying a new air conditioning unit, it is important to maintain your home’s cooling system and, if needed, contact a professional air conditioning repair company. Staying on top of this home maintenance issue ensures you will reliably stay cool and comfortable during the heat.

How do you know if you need to call a professional? Air conditioner units should continuously cool your home to the temperature you set. In order to avoid long days of discomfort, we have created this list of common warning signs you will need AC repair.

Increasing Costs – Cooling your home costs money, but if you notice that your bills are higher than normal, you should have the air conditioning system checked.

Poor Airflow – Your unit should cool your home evenly. If you have hot spots or the house is not cooling rooms equally, you will need your compressor and duct work checked.

No Cooling – If you are getting good airflow but no cooling, there may be a problem with the compressor or coolant levels. Call an AC repair professional.

Strange Noises – If there is grating or screeching noises coming from your air conditioner, the motor may need repair or there is a lubrication problem. Don’t ignore noises.

It’s good to know that unequal heating is most likely just a compressor problem. My air conditioning unit doesn’t seem to keep all parts of my home as cool as they ought to be, and I was worried I’d need to replace the whole thing. I’ll definitely have an HVAC technician come take a look at it to determine if I can get my compressor repaired.

I like that you mentioned that increasing utility bill costs are a sure sign that your system isn’t working properly. To catch this, you should be checking your bills monthly. I know sometimes my wife and I brush this off, but this can end up costing us down the road with bigger repairs. I will remember to pay closer attention month to month.

Thank you for your article about finding out if my AC needs repair or not. Recently, I have been hearing rattling noises from my AC which is why I decided to look into it. I’m glad you talked about strange noises from the AC unit and how it can be a sign that my AC’s motor might be due for an inspection from a professional. Whether it be a repair or a lubrication problem, I’ll make sure to consult a professional to make sure.

After moving into our new home, my fiance and I started noticing some strange noises in our house. We were not sure at first where it was coming from, but now we are for sure that it is the air conditioning. Both of us agree that finding an air conditioning service to fix these problems.

It was really informative how you said that if we ever notice that the coolness was not distributed evenly inside the house and there were places that were hotter than the others, then it’s time to get the ducts checked. I knew there was something wrong with the AC unit. My brother keeps reassuring me that it’s normal and that it’s better that way because he gets cold easily. Now I know that if we let it stay like that, we will have to replace the unit next time. Thank you for sharing.

I have been thinking for a while now about the things that may be contributing to the increase in the utility bills, but I cannot seem to figure out what. I tried changing the windows insulating the roof and dealing with other things that I know might be affecting it, but it remains the same. That was the reason I was happy I came across this article. You said that once there is an increase in the energy bills but the usage remained the same, then there might be something wrong with the unit and that it needs to be checked. Personally, I think we need to get it replaced right away. It has been operating for more than ten years after all. Thank you for the info.

My brother talked to me last night about something that he has noticed in the house. He mentioned that there are parts of the house, like the kitchen, that is too cold and there are parts that are too warm, like his bedroom. I thought it was normal for it to be like that until I came across this article. You said that when the house is not receiving even cooling inside it, then it’s an indicator of a problem and that we should get the air ducts and compressor checked. I will do that. Thank you.

It was really good how you suggested getting the AC unit of the house checked as soon as we realize that the bills are way higher than normal and the consumption is still the same. I did notice that the utility bills have increased drastically which was weird because we’re out of the house most of the time. I would not want to blame it on the other appliances, so I guess it really is for the best that we hire professionals to give the system a check. Thank you!

I am glad that I came across this article because I learned that normal functioning AC units cool the house evenly, so if we start to feel that not all the places in the house are receiving the right amount of coolness, then it’s time to get it checked. I guess you were right on that one considering that I am the one who’s suffering from the lack of air flow. It might be about time that we get a professional to see what’s wrong. My room is starting to feel like an oven after all. Thank you.

I do appreciate it when you said that if there are places in the house that are not as cool as the rest, then it is probably time to get the compressor replaced. If so, then I have been ignoring the problem with the AC unit for a while now. My brother even started sleeping with me since his bedroom is not as cool as usual. I think it is about time we call a repairman to check the compressor. Thank you.
